Animals Entering Cities.

Wild animals entering cities was never a problem. Recently, the number of visitors from the forests has increased drastically. Not only are the strays being hunted by them, but they also are causing a threat to human life.

What Does This Mean?

This shows that animals are either losing their habitats, hence are lurking into the residential areas or, they are being attracted to the cities due to certain causes.
Deforestation is one of the main reasons for this. Studies show that deforestation rates have dropped low since 2014, which is good but, not enough to prevent animals from entering residential areas.

Why Is This Dangerous?

This is a very serious problem which is not to be taken lightly. There are many harms caused due to such behaviour of wild animals.

# This can cause a number of diseases, due to the bacteria spread by the animals.

# If these animals bite humans, people could be infected with diseases.

# As these animals do not get food, they prey on stray animals like dogs and cats, They are also a danger to pet animals.

# Some big cats like leopards, wander off into cities, causing a threat to humans.

# Some of these animals could be fatal for human life.

Instances

Wherever human colonies have encroached animal habitats, there have been numerous instances of wild animals entering into human colonies and subsequently attacking humans and strays. For example, in Mumbai, India, there have been many leopard attacks around the boundaries of national parks.  Also, red foxes have have colonised in London.

Prevention

The main preventive measure is planting more trees and reducing deforestation. For every tree cut, two new plants should be planted. Also, human colonies should be located on some distance from the forests.
